An ongoing world pandemic in 2021 made the decision to return the Tour de T1D to an in person event even more challenging. One moment we were saying ‘let’s do it’ and the next ‘but wait, what if….’
Needless to say, the show went on…..and it was epic!
We are so incredibly grateful to all our amazingly supportive sponsors and to our 117 faithful cyclists and volunteers. We all came together and pulled it off! The smiles were plentiful…..yes, sometimes with masks on as mandated. But a happy bunch we were.
It was again an epic riding day! The sun shone. There was not a rain cloud in sight. Everyone was so excited to get outside, get together and finally socialize. Many had not been in large groups for over a year! Sure we did things a little differently but change can be good and can bring ideas to the table that will live on. Who didn’t love those box lunches shared amongst others while sitting in the sun outside of the beautiful Heights Ski Club Chalet.
Our fundraising efforts were not as robust as in other years but we did raise $26,075.00 in support of the Royal Victoria Regional Health CentreYouth Diabetic Clinic.
