Tour de T1D – 2020

2020!  What a year to remember….or forget!

Sadly, the Tour de T1D 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.   We were on a roll.  It would have been our third year.  We had our amazing sponsorships in place.  We had so many people looking forward to returning as riders and volunteers.  We had hoped to welcome many new riders and reach our goal of supporting over 200 riders and surpassing $100,000.00 in total funds raised.  Darn covid!

We still managed to raise $5325 through some donations and the great association with the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) that coordinated an online virtual ride fundraiser associated with a Cycling Injuries and Performance educational webinar that saw $1500 donated to our event! Thank you CASEM!

Regardless, September 27th was a spectacular, warm, colourful fall day and Richard and Darlene rode the route to acknowledge the day and celebrate with those who chose to ride.  Some rode virtually, most took advantage of the beautiful day and did their ride with social distancing in mind.  Thank you to those who participated and those who donated.  For the second year, all funds raised were in support of the Royal Victoria Hospital’s Youth Diabetic Clinic.
